The city of Brasília is preparing itself to host the VI Green Meeting of the Americas on May 30^th, 31^st and June 1^st, 2006, “Americas Conference for Environment and Sustainable Development”, which is an important and challenging forum who tries to provide sustainable solutions to social and environmental issues in the Americas and in the world. The event will bring national and international leaders together, connected with government or not, about Environment and Sustainable Development for the 2006 Americas Green Prize, among other events.

The Green Prize of the Americas 2006, which will be awarded at the solemn opening  of this meeting, will be the result of observations and research at the international level, to honor personalities and institutions that have, over the years, contributed to the development and environmental preservation of the planet. Just one personality or institution in each category will receive the prize.

The VI Green Meeting of the Americas and the awarding of the Green Prize of the Americas are being publicized nationally and internationally, though a direct mailing sys-tem, in the media, through a press secretary and on the Inter-net, with links to the main environmental sites in the world.

On the other hand, the organizers of the Meeting are encouraging the creation of sector groups for publicizing, both in Brazil and abroad; to better publicize the ideals and purposes of the event.

After the Meeting, as usual, the Organizing Commission will produce a document, reiterating and stating the principles that will guide this forum, which will be called the Green Charter of the Americas 2006, to be sent to the competent authorities in Brazil, the Americas, and other continents, as well as international organisms and conferences, with claims and recommendations in the socio-environmental and economic areas.

In order to make this Meeting a great, concrete, innovative and feasible “idea bank”, the Meeting’s General Coordination is inviting universities, prefectures, enterprises and national and international organizations to present their projects, those which are underway and yielding good results. It is intended that such experiences could contribute to solve the big social and environmental problems that impair economic development so as to enhance people’s quality of life.

The target population invited to the VI Greenmeeting of the Americas is comprised of environmental leaderships, the press, authorities from several countries, experts, representatives of companies and autarchies, environmen-tal organizations at several levels, university professors and students, researchers and representatives of national and international institutions, as well as diplomats from several continents.

The sponsors of the VI Green Meeting of the Americas, to be carried out in Brasilia DF, in May 30^th, 31^st and June 1^st,  2006, will have an excellent opportunity to do objective and concentrated marketing, and receive large profits from their investments, besides furnishing Brazilian society  with alternative paths of economic and social growth that are not aggressive to the environment.

Companies and institutions will have their trademarks added in the Home Page, in all advertising printed material and announces of the Meeting. Series of other advantages will be offered, such as taking part in banners distributed inside the auditorium where the event will be held, during seminars and preparatory meetings held on several capitals.
