Presentation

The IV Green Meeting of the Americas, “Conference of the Americas for the Environment and Sustainable Development,” to be held in Rio de Janeiro, on the 14^th, 15^th and 16^th of September 2004, gathering the main global authorities on the Environment and sustainable development, both governmental, as well as non-governmental.  We hope to overcome all perspectives and the great success of the previous encounter, when a larger than expected audience was present to participate in the Meeting, attracting the attention of the international media.  

Objective  

The objective of the IV Green Meeting of the Americas, also known as the Green Meeting, is to focus its attention on global environmental problems, with concrete and objective debates, such as the proposal for the creation of the International Environmental Court, Environmental Changes, Hydric Resources, Biotechnology, Forests, among others; to give priority to national and international projects, with successful and innovative experiences, so that they may contribute directly and indirectly to the development and the solution of the planet’s socio-environmental  and economic problems, as well as minimizing the causes of poverty.  

Green Prize of the Americas 2004. 

The Green Prize of the Americas 2004, that will be offered at the solemn opening of the Meeting, will be the result of observations and research of an international, to honor personalities and institutions that have, along the years, been contributing to the environmental development and preservation of the planet.  

International Environmental Court

One of the important debates that should be held at the IV Green Meeting of the Americas will be the proposal for the creation of the INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL COURT (GREEN COURT), in the role of an instrument for the defense of nature and quality of life in the planet, where Governments and Society will exercise their rights and duties to demand a halt to environmental crimes at a global level and adopt sanctions and punishments against those responsible for transnational and global international crimes, following the example of what happens today, in the areas of free trade and in the Court at The Hague.

Target Audience  

The target audience, invited to the IV Green Meeting of the Americas, consists of environmental authorities, press, authorities of several countries, technologists, representatives for companies and autocracies, environmental organs of diverse levels, university professors and students, researchers and representatives of national and international institutes, as well as diplomats from several continents.

Promotion                         

The IV Green Meeting of the Americas and the offering of the Award are being promoted nationally and internationals, through Direct Marketing, in the media, through press relations, and in the internet through links in the world’s main environmental websites.
