The city of Belo Horizonte, will host, on the next May 25th, 26th and 27th, the X Green Meeting of the Americas, “Conference of the Americas for the Environment and Sustainable Devolopment, important and popular forum in favor of socio-environmental development of the hemisphere and the planet. The event will bring together the main national and international leaderships on the environment and sustainable development, both governmental and non-governmental, and there, among other things, the Green Prize of the Americas will be awarded.

It must be pointed out the Greenmeetings’ actions have significantly reflected upon the several segments of the government and society, delineating and contributing to a better awareness building, focussed on environmental management and socio-economic development. Therefore, it is necessary to assure the continuity of this process,so this

debate can advance so as to be owned and understood by all. However, it is still necessary to promote popular participation in this meeting, more and more, in a qualified and consistent way, with the public offering propositions.

“Looking for Solutions”, the objective of the seventh Green Meeting of the Americas is to look for solutions for the global environmental problems, with concrete and objective discussions, involving a larger number of institutions and segments of society, from Brazil and abroad. Widening its scope and democratizing the discussions beyond the governmental, technical and academic subjects, bringing forth the successful experiences that allow for their application in areas with similar problems.

We hope this meeting, in addition to contributing to the current discussions about the environment and sustainable development, can bring together efforts towards searching for solutions for the several socio-environmental problems, towards a better quality of living for present and future generations.
